Yang Qiu is a Chinese ceramic artist based in Marrickville, Sydney.
She is known for transforming everyday produce like corn, eggplant, avocado, mandarin into functional ceramic sculptures.
Trained in painting and ceramics at UNSW (2017), Yang draws on her earlier career as a pastry chef and her interest in mould-making to create objects with unusual, tactile forms. Often given faces and legs, her pieces carry a whimsical, childlike character, less sculptures than companions, imagined as friends to dance and celebrate life with.
